Dr. Bhandarkar
believes in providing comprehensive and well-coordinated care to the patient, and that teamwork plays a crucial role in enabling her to help patients successfully reach their health goals. She also works to empower patients to participate fully in their healthcare by asking questions and openly expressing their views and beliefs to their physician.

She is also a member of the American College of Physicians.

She worked in Manhattan for many years and co-founded the Women’s Health Clinic at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Medical Center.  She has taught medical students, nurse practitioner students and residents for many years.

In her spare time, Dr. Bhandarkar enjoys traveling, healthy cooking and playing the violin.


Shirley Roberts, MA, LPC, NCC

Community Health Educator, RWJ Hamilton


Shirley Roberts
has been a community health educator at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton for 16 years.  She is a licensed professional mental health counselor and certified professional health and wellness coach.

Shirley’s interests are focused on the impact of chronic medical illness on a person’s psychological, emotional, and spiritual well-being. She has published on this subject in state and national counseling journals. She teaches workshops for people with chronic illness, diabetes and cancer, as well as facilitates groups on healthy aging. In addition, she co-teaches a program for families with children who have weight challenges.

Mayor Fried is proud to announce that he has selected the Robbinsville Township C.A.R.E. program as the beneficiary of this year’s State of Robbinsville Township Pay It Forward event. Robbinsville Township is committed to taking a more proactive approach in helping those with addiction by providing resources and support to aid them on the road to recovery.

By expanding the C.A.R.E. program and infusing it with funding from generous gifts from our sponsors and the public, Robbinsville Township will be able to provide financial assistance to our partners in order to provide:

  • Partial scholarships for a participating rehabilitation center
  • Transportation access
