East Windsor Mayor Participates in Meals On Wheels Champions Week
Mayor Janice S. Mironov participated in Meals on Wheels of Mercer County annual “Community Champions Week, during the week of March 21. Community Champions Week, March 21-25, 2016, is a week-long event inviting elected officials, local celebrities and other prominent figures to deliver meals, speak out for seniors and raise awareness for the power of Meals on Wheels. The Mayor joined local volunteers to deliver meals to program participants, to generate public awareness about senior hunger and isolation, to celebrate the invaluable services provided by the various meals on wheels programs, and to recruit new volunteers and support for the program.
Mayor Mironov stated, “the Meals on Wheels program is an extraordinarily valuable means of supporting our seniors and homebound residents by not only delivering a hot meal daily, but also providing a safety check and important social interaction and support for these individuals all year round. We are grateful to the sponsoring organization and especially to the dedicated caring people who volunteer and enable this important service to our communities.”
Meals on Wheels of Mercer County volunteers deliver meals Monday through Friday, helping homebound and elderly residents to maintain their independence, health and well-being through delivery of a meal by volunteers in East Windsor and other Mercer County communities. Individuals with mid-day availability can volunteer according to their availability to deliver meals to local seniors.
