David Weild IV is a stock market expert best known for his position as Vice Chairman of NASDAQ. He is currently the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Weild & Co. Inc., parent company of the investment banking firm Weild Capital, LLC.. Weild is also known as the “father” of the JOBS Act, and has been involved in drafting legislation for the US Congress.

United Way Young Professionals Network For A Cause

Kick off the weekend and Network for a Cause with United Way L.I.V.E. Young Professionals and Grounds For Sculpture Young Professionals. Meet and mingle in the Grounds For Sculpture Auditorium while assembling and decorating art kits with other Young Professionals and children from a local nonprofit or school.
Following the activity, we’ll say farewell to our young friends and then head out to the Grounds For Sculpture Beer Garden* and First Fridays programs: music, pop-up performances and other fun activities around the park, to continue networking!
* Beverages available a la carte. Must be 21+ with state-issued ID to purchase alcoholic beverages.
Your ticket includes: light refreshments and access to GFS park. Part of the proceeds are used to cover costs for project materials.

Stand Up for a Child Night of Comedy – CASA

Step out for a wonderful night out to benefit CASA to ensure foster children reach safe and permanent homes. The Merion opens its doors at 6:00pm to enjoy hors d’oeuvres, libations, delicious buffet and sumptuous desserts. McCarter Theatre Block Party

McCarter Theatre Center will celebrate the start of its upcoming season with its 8th annual community-wide Block Party, taking place on Wednesday, August 22 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the front lawn of McCarter’s Matthews Theatre. College Road will be closed-off for the event (between Alexander Road and University Place), which will give an expanded area for families to play, eat, and enjoy the day. Admission and activities are free and open to the public. Enjoy live music from the Philadelphia Jazz Orchestra, food trucks from some of your favorite local eateries, crafts with ArtSparks, hula hoop dancing with Glitter Hoops, The Twirling Arcade, theater games and other fun activities for the kids, stage tours, a beer garden featuring local craft brews, and more. A rain date of August 23 is scheduled.

Plein Air Art Day In The Garden – Green Haven Garden Center

Green Haven Garden Center is hosting a Plein Air Art Day on Saturday, August 25. Artists are invited to come paint or draw beautiful flowers, plants, and trees in the garden center’s established display beds. There will be a wonderful variety of colors, textures, and shapes in the gardens, as well as flying visitors such as butterflies, bees, and birds. There will be Two sessions: Session I – 9 am to 1 pm and Session II – 2 pm to 6 pm. Artists are also welcome to come to both sessions. The cost is $5.00 per session or $8.00 for the entire day. Coffee, tea, water, fruit juices and snacks will be provided. There is plenty of parking, shade under trees or umbrellas, a refrigerator and a restroom. Those interested in participating are asked to pre-register by Friday, August 24th. Pre-registering is easily done by 1) calling Green Haven Garden Center at 609-584-6930, 2) coming to the garden center at 1181 Hughes Drive, Hamilton, or 3) mailing the appropriate fee with the participant’s name, contact information, and preference of the morning, afternoon, or all-day session. The rain date is Sunday, August 26. Green Haven Garden Center is a family owned garden center located at the intersection of Quakerbridge Road and Hughes Drive, 2 miles East of Quakerbridge Mall. Open 7 days a week.

NJ Resources for Business Growth

If you are a business owner and/or aspiring entrepreneur, the New Jersey Business Action Center (BAC) wants you to know about the many programs and incentives available to help your business grow and thrive.

You are invited to join BAC Executive Director Melanie Willoughby for an event Wednesday, September 12th to discuss how these incentives and programs can help you, and how you can take advantage of them.

Joining Willoughby will be representatives of the state agencies involved, including the Economic Development Authority, Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Department of the Treasury, the State Library, Board of Public Utilities, Small Business Development Center and others. These representatives will be available for one-on-one discussions at the meeting.

First Friday Art Show @ Base Camp Trenton

“Nature’s Rhythm” is a collection of work by artist Laura Beard in oil, watercolor and pencil mediums that highlight the beauty of the animals that inhabit the natural world. Laura strives to capture the individuality and spirit of the birds and mammals that she paints and draws and hopes that you will form your own connection with what you see. Original pieces will be available for sale, as well as limited edition prints.

Artist Bio:
Laura Beard is a freelance visual artist, living and working in Ewing, NJ. She works primarily in oil and watercolor painting, with a little bit of drawing thrown in as well. Her work centers on animals and birds primarily, though she has recently begun painting human portraiture as well. When she is not working on fine art pieces, she is painting commission portraits of pets and people for clients around the United States. Her work has been in group shows throughout the central New Jersey area and has been in juried shows at John James Audubon Center in Audubon, Pennsylvania, D&R Greenway Land Trust in Princeton, New Jersey, and Audubon at Plainsboro Preserve in Plainsboro, New Jersey.

Follow Dolly Levi, a widowed New York City Jewish matchmaker, as she journeys to Yonkers, New York to the home of Horace Vandergelder, a wealthy grain merchant whom she would like to marry, but he reveals his intention to marry Irene Molloy, a pretty New York milliner, an announcement that inspires Dolly to devise a plan to keep Horace for herself.
