Back by popular demand, First Fridays: Back to the Basics is returning to Downtown Trenton this summer every first Friday of the month. A special ribbon cutting ceremony will be held to celebrate the kickoff to include sponsors, partners, city leaders and other invited special guests at the Friday, June 2, 2017 First Friday starting at 5:00 pm. The event takes place on West Front Street right in front of the 1911 Smokehouse Barbeque.

With the backing of TD Bank and New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company this year, the African American Cultural Collaborative of Mercer County is proud to offer these FREE, family-oriented community gatherings for the second consecutive spring/summer season. We are excited to announce that 1911 Smokehouse has again agreed to partner in this series of crowd pleasing evenings of fun right in the center of downtown Trenton. The City of Trenton and the Trenton Downtown Association are also partnering for our return.

Each First Friday will feature a theme in hopes of attracting an even more diverse population from our community and the surrounding areas. With an even larger number of vendors, entertainers, and food choices, First Fridays are set to be filled with fun and excitement for all ages. The following comprise the schedule for First Fridays from May through September. All events are FREE to the public.

June 2, 2017 will be our “OLD SCHOOL WITH A NEW SCHOOL FLAVOR” First Friday. A local DJ will be spinning the wheels to ensure an atmosphere of non-stop fun and great music.

July 7, 2017 welcomes “IT’S CARNIVAL TYME” First Friday with Caribbean themed music, live performances, dancers and a parade.

In August we will cater to music and fashion.  August 4, 2017 will be “R&B MOTOWN IS BACK WITH RUNWAY FASHION” First Friday.  A local apparel designer will be featured along with amazing live performances that are sure to keep the streets jumping with excitement.

We will end our summer series on a high note of giving back while having fun.  September 1, 2017 will be our “SCHOOL DAZE GIVE BACK” First Friday.  Youth performers will be highlighted along with a local DJ.  Community members will be asked to donate back to school items for youth.

In the event of inclement weather, the 2nd Friday of each month has already been reserved as our rain dates.

The African American Cultural Collaborative of Mercer County (TAACC) is pleased to promote the ever evolving vision of the festival that has led to the creation of an even larger, more inclusive entity to serve the residents of Mercer County and beyond.  In the spring of 2016, the Trenton African American Cultural Festival organization, along with community based support and sponsorship, evolved into the African American Cultural Collaborative of Mercer County. As a result, multiple events occurred during the spring and summer in Downtown Trenton, Princeton, and the surrounding areas.

We are also excited to have the return of our popular, crowd pleasing and family oriented Trenton African American Cultural Festival, which attracts thousands from the Tri-State area and beyond. After a year hiatus, while we focused on more intimate community ventures, the festival will occur on the grounds of historic Cadwalader Park on Saturday, August 19, 2017. It will feature a Youth Sports Expo, Healthy Living Pavilion, and an interactive Children’s Village.

Vendor applications are being accepted NOW for our First Friday events and the Cultural Festival.  Limited vending opportunities remain for local businesses, non-profits, and community organizations.  Information can be obtained by visiting our website at www.TAACF.com or by calling 609-474-4073.
