A PERSPECTIVE ON THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION

The general population, as well as the business community, is currently absorbed in national affairs, trying to understand the broad implications of sweeping policy shifts. Federal policy to this point has been benign to the NJ economy. However, as time elapses, reforms are enacted and additional measures are introduced, we will be impacted for better or for worse. The importance of understanding what changes are on the horizon is paramount, especially for businesses. To this extent, we have planned an informative program to bring national politics into a more local focus.

This event is an opportunity to hear from experts about the perceptions of the economy and how the changes will be received.

MEET THE PANEL

Moderator Tom Bracken, President & CEO New Jersey Chamber of Commerce

Veteran banker Thomas A. Bracken became the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce’s president and CEO in February of 2011, taking the reins of the state’s business advocacy organization as it celebrated its 100th year.

Bracken, a Bucknell graduate, is currently the president of The Bedens Brook Club and the chairman of the New Jersey Alliance for Action Foundation. He is also a board member of Public Media NJ, the subsidiary of WNET that runs NJTV, the New Jersey Hall of Fame, South Jersey Industries, and Solix, Inc.

Patrick Murray, Director of Monmouth University Polling Institute

Patrick Murray was named the Monmouth University Polling Institute’s founding director in 2005. He is frequently called upon by the media to provide commentary on polling and the political world. He has appeared on programs such as MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Show, Fox News’ The Kelly File, CNN’s The Situation Room, and ABC’s Good Morning America, among others.

During federal election years, Murray also serves as a national exit poll analyst for major networks. In the institute’s home state, Murray has appeared on PolitickerNJ’s annual “Power List” of the 100 most influential people in New Jersey politics.

Darryl Isherwood is a Senior Vice President in Mercury’s Westfield, New Jersey office, providing strategic communications and public relations insight gained from more than a dozen years as one of New Jersey’s most influential journalists.

Prior to joining Mercury, Darryl served as a senior political reporter for NJ.com and the Star Ledger, New Jersey’s largest and most well-read news outlet. Before joining NJ.com, he was the editor of PolitickerNJ.com, the leading political news website in the state.

Darryl is a highly sought after guest on several national news programs, providing insight and analysis on both national and New Jersey politics. He also has been a business reporter for Fox Business Network, where he covered real estate, the financial bailout and the intersection of money and politics. Darryl began his career with the Trenton Times covering local and state politics and he also spent time at the Morning Call in Allentown, Pa. and the Patriot Ledger in Quincy Mass.

Darryl’s reporting has won him numerous awards on the national, regional and state level and his work for the Times of Trenton was submitted for a Pulitzer Prize in investigative reporting. Along with extensive media capability, Darryl brings with him the experience gained from more than a decade on Wall Street, where he worked for some of the largest financial services firms in the nation as a broker, trader and auditor. Before leaving the world of finance, Darryl rose to the level of Vice President in charge of branch audit for Prudential Securities.  Darryl holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond and a Master’s Degree in Journalism from Boston University.
