Local non-profit, Hope Loves Company, expands programs for families affected by ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) with weekend retreat for HLC teenagers and young adults ages 15-21.

Teenagers and young adults ages 15-21 who have or have had a loved one battling ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) or Lou Gehrig’s disease are invited to attend, at no charge, a weekend retreat at the Barn at Gravity Hill in Titusville, NJ.

Hope Loves Company (HLC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to supporting children and young adults who have or have had family members or loved ones living with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. It is the only non-profit with this specific and unique mission.

Now that Hope Loves Company is nearing their sixth year as an established non-profit, they have organized the first HLC Teen Retreat for campers who may be outgrowing their first camp model, Camp HLC. Camp HLC is a free 3-day weekend retreat for children and young adults ages 6-21 which includes the opportunity to partake in fun, recreational activities such as hiking and fishing, while also helping campers to learn coping skills and offering much needed support. HLC founder and president, Jodi O’Donnell-Ames, and her team have hosted eighteen Camp HLCs across the nation.

Like Camp HLC, the HLC Teen Retreat is a free weekend retreat designed to provide a safe haven of support and relaxation for young people who have or have had a loved one battling ALS.

The first HLC Teen Retreat will take place from September 7-9, 2018 at the Barn at Gravity Hill in Titusville, New Jersey. Teens and young adults who have attended Camp HLC in the past are invited to attend from across the nation.

The HLC Teen Retreat offers many fun experiences and allows attendees the opportunity to reconnect with old friends while making new ones. Additionally, the HLC Teen Retreat should help teenagers and young adults to recognize the importance of peer support throughout their ALS journey.
