Arena football returns to Trenton in April 2018 with the Jersey Flight, the newest addition to the National Arena League.
“We’re ready for take-off,” co-owner Kyna Felder-Ruiz said Thursday during a press conference at Primepoint’s headquarters in Mt. Holly.
Primepoint, the payroll processing and HR management company, is the presenting sponsor and the Flight will play its home games on Primepoint Field at CURE Insurance Arena.
Head coach Jake Grande promised to bring a championship to New Jersey, “because that’s what Jersey expects.”
Primepoint CEO Alex Bothwell Jr. saw a similarity between the team and his company. “We’re both from Jersey and we both play all over the country,” he said, adding that both organizations are family-oriented, team-oriented and focused on playing a role in the community.
The schedule is expected to be announced the first week in December. The roster includes wide receiver Shamar Graves, a former Rutgers Scarlet Knight and an arena football veteran.
Jersey Flight Community is the team’s nonprofit organization that aims to promote a lifelong enjoyment of sports, while emphasizing a positive community engagement and instilling the core values of discipline, teamwork, safety, respect and integrity.
