Rider Students Talk Paris, the European Economy, Pharmaceuticals and more The MIDJersey Chamber of Commerce Business Hour!We love talking about Mercer County, New Jersey, U.S. and international business. The MIDJersey Chamber of Commerce Business Hour Sundays at 10 a.m. on 107.7 The Bronc is a business show produced and hosted by students from the College of Business Administration at Rider University.
On this week’s show Sarah Schneid and John Lardaro touch upon some fairly controversial issues. In light of the terror attacks that unfolded last week in Paris, the world is responding both economically and militarily. Sarah discusses the state of Europe’s economy following the closing of European borders. According to a MarketWatch article, “ending the free movement of people will have a huge impact…it will make labor markets less mobile, hit companies that rely on lots of cheap labor…” (Lynn). Unfortunately, the closing of European borders is something that seems to be inevitable at least for the short term. So expect the value of the Euro to be greatly affected.
One of John’s topics this week focuses on the affordability of the pharmaceutical industry, and the current state of pharmaceutical prices. This topic is extremely relevant considering we are in the midst of the 2016 presidential race. Looking at the various options for pharmaceutical regulation, politicians are considering price cap regulation. Making this a subject a political hot potato for both the Democrats and the Republicans.
